Project Quantity Surveyor

T&T Façades is growing — and we’re looking for a commercially savvy Project QS to join our award-winning team.

You’ll take the lead on managing project costs, driving value, and working on some of the most important cladding remediation and new build projects in the South.

The job holder will be supported and guided by the Managing Quantity Surveyor, to whom they will report. The successful applicant must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to demonstrate strong attention to detail.

You will ideally be in a similar job role.

The Company:
T&T Façades is an award winning, specialist construction contractor based in Fareham, Hampshire. We design, supply and install the full range of cladding and façade systems for both new builds and cladding remediation projects in both a Principle Contractor capacity and as a Subcontractor.

We have been specialists in rainscreen cladding since 2000, installing all the major façade systems from SFS framing substructure and aluminium glazing systems to bespoke façade solutions. We also install external wall insulation (EWI) render systems to offer the complete façade package.

Our services include full in-house design, supply and installation including on-site project management. As we continue our sustained growth, we are looking to recruit a Project Quantity Surveyor to join our friendly team.

Overview:
Reporting to the Managing Quantity Surveyor, the Project Surveyor is responsible for project budgets by managing cost and value. This role requires focus and the ability to push and achieve targets, budgets, quality and results.

Whilst supported and guided by the Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will be required to make decisions in a timely and appropriate manner whilst adhering to operating procedures.

This role requires a person with drive, assertiveness, and the ability to effectively communicate with others. A collaborative approach and the ability to influence and persuade others are important to the success of the role. In this position you will be required to work with the team, engaging with others and have a strong commercial knowledge.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

• Management of commercial and contractual relationships with support from MQS to clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Maximise the profitability of contracts and achieve optimum cashflow.
• Review project details in conjunction with the design, buying and contract teams to assess feasibility / scope compliance and issue budgets accordingly.
• Presenting detailed cost and value reporting regularly to ensure the initial budget is not exceeded.
• Attend multi-team pre-contract meetings, and ensure timely completion of agreed actions
• Manage and submit accounts accurately and on time to clients including full entitlement to any ongoing variations
• Negotiate and agree interim / final applications, to ensure prompt payments
• Prepare and manage subcontract accounts from inception to final account.
• Visit sites regularly to measure and value work completed as well as looking for variation opportunities.
• Identify, highlight and manage risks whilst maintaining the relationship with the client.
• Monitor progress and manage expectations internally and externally.

Requirements of the role:

The successful applicant will:

• Hold a relevant qualification, degree or equivalent experience (e.g. Quantity Surveying or Construction Management)
• Demonstrate depth of experience in a commercial role within construction, preferably the facades / cladding sector.
• Have a strong educational background with well-developed analytical, numeracy and literacy skills.
• Demonstrate an understanding of cost and value management.
• Have good working knowledge of the JCT & NEC suites of contracts.
• Be self-motivated, detail orientated and very organised, with an aptitude for absorbing and analysing information.
• Demonstrate a genuine interest and understanding of construction processes.
• Be able to work well both in a team and individually with the ability to manage a team.
• Possess good communication and people skills.
• Remain calm under pressure.
• Hold a valid driving licence.

Location and hours:
The role will be Head Office based in Fareham, Hampshire with frequent travel to sites in the South region. Office hours will be Monday – Friday, 8.00am – 5.00pm.
