T&T Facades has registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme on 8th April 2019.

The Considerate Constructors Scheme was founded in 1997 to improve the image of construction. It is concerned about any area of construction activity that may have a direct or indirect impact on the image of the industry as a whole.

Companies wishing to become registered with the Scheme are assessed on five key categories – ‘Care about Appearance’, ‘Respect the Community’, ‘Protect the Environment’, ‘Secure everyone’s Safety’ and ‘Value their Workforce.’ T&T are delighted to report that their score for each category was either Good, Very Good or Excellent. The Scheme Monitor’s report after the office visit commented “This company demonstrated at the office visit a high degree of professionalism and commitment to its overall image.”

Considerate Constructors Scheme Chief Executive Edward Hardy said: “More and more companies are recognising the benefits of being part of the Scheme, with around 7,000 companies, construction sites and suppliers registered at any time. We are therefore delighted that Specialist Contractor T&T Facades has joined the Scheme, and we look forward to them increasing their standards of considerate construction to even higher levels of achievement in the future.”

Joint company owner Tom Rutter said “The principles and Code of Considerate Practice outlined by the CCS are closely aligned with T&T’s own values and way of working. We’ve always been a company which goes beyond statutory requirements and therefore applying for registration with the scheme was a no-brainer for us. This is a particularly proud moment for us and we will display our registration with the Scheme with honour”.

On Good Friday, teams from the sea rowing section of Barry Yacht Club, South Wales took part in the “Turn of the tide challenge 2019” – an event that requires teams rowing Celtic Long Boats, at sea, from Barry, South Wales to Mumbles, Swansea and back, a distance of 80 miles.

The challenge, taken on by the members of Barry Yacht Club, one member of which is our very own contracts manager Jon Wride, was both an endurance test and a sponsored fundraising exercise. The club supports a local charity, LLAMAU, which provides guidance and assistance to young people between the ages of 16 to 25 giving them skills and confidence for them to become independent adults. Some of the money raised will also go towards the purchase of an urgently needed new Celtic Long Boat to join the two currently in use. As part of the clubs support several young people will join their Sea Rowing Section where they will be integrated into a team as part of their development, taking part in races and events around the coast of the UK.

T&T Facades is proud to support the club and their fundraising by sponsoring their two current boats which took part in the challenge.

Four teams, consisting of four rowers and a coxswain, set off at 7am on the day. Each team was challenged to row one leg each of 40 miles with one team rowing both ways! Being at the mercy of the elements, tides, wind and the hazards of the Bristol Channel each leg was estimated to take approximately 6 hours. Jon’s team consisting of both male and female rowers came in at an impressive 5 hours, 27 minutes with the two-way crew rowing for an incredible 12.5 hours. It was a fantastic achievement by all teams who took part.

To support the club and their charity, all donations are welcome through their JustGiving page.
