T&T Facades has been awarded a 7500m2 cladding contract with new client WRW Construction. The project comprises the redevelopment of an existing 13-storey Swansea office block into much needed student housing. The existing city centre building will be extended to include the construction of an additional two storeys to the block creating Oldway House, consisting of 556 new en-suite student bedrooms including 12 studio apartments, a management area, show accommodation, common rooms, laundrette and a ground floor retail unit.

T&T Facades will be responsible for the design, supply and installation of the rainscreen cladding package on the scheme, comprising Rockpanel rainscreen and various ancillaries including flashings, cavity barriers and parapet coping.

The site is surrounded by commercial and residential buildings which will be mostly occupied during the construction works. T&T will therefore need to draw upon its extensive experience of delivering city centre projects which includes various hotels and high rise accommodation blocks. Alexandra House which adjoins the site is a live office building that will be occupied for the duration of the project.

T&T Facades commence on site in November 2018.

T&T Facades is delighted to have secured an additional project at the Robert Clack school campus in Dagenham, Essex, increasing our contract value to c£1m. Currently on site at the lower school, where we are installing the façade on two new teaching blocks, T&T will shortly begin further works at the upper school where we will be delivering the full façade for the sports hall refurb and extension and a new entrance building designed by Bond Bryan Architects. The façade package consists of fibre cement rainscreen cladding, curtain walling, windows and doors.

The extensive construction worked commissioned by Robert Clack school will make it the largest secondary school in England.

In today’s tough and competitive construction market, T&T Facades is pleased to report that not only is the company weathering the storm, but it has recorded its most successful year to date.

The company accounts for year ending 2017 show an 84% increase in turnover over the previous year  to £7.1m, with average order values increasing by 157%.  In order to manage this high level of growth, staff numbers have doubled to over 20 permanent employees bringing with it high quality skills and talent to the business.

Key to this growth is the company’s strategic move to broaden its range of services in recent years from originally a labour only carpentry and cladding business to a specialist façade contractor incorporating rainscreen cladding and complex glazing providing a full design, supply and installation service to its clients.

Speaking about the company’s success, joint company owner Tom Rutter commented: “2017 has been a pivotal year and a turning point in the company’s history. T&T Facades is pleased to announce the promotion of Jon Cockle to Commercial Director. Jon, who previously held the position of Commercial Manager joined the company in 2016 having worked his way up from senior QS.

Jon has a wealth of industry experience and a strong background in commercial management and quantity surveying. In his new role he will oversee the whole commercial function from order receipt to final account. As a new company director Jon will work closely with the senior management and site teams to develop and implement the business’s ongoing strategy for future growth and goal of becoming the region’s preferred specialist facade contractor.

Commenting on his new role Jon said: “This is a really exciting time for T&T Facades. In the last 12 months our growth has been phenomenal, over doubling our turnover and staff numbers. We’ve delivered some of our best projects to date and have great projects both underway and in the pipeline. The challenge now is to keep the upward curve going whilst remaining profitable; a challenge I am more than up for.”

Jon’s promotion follows a period of major success for the company, having achieved a number of project milestones. T&T Facades is pleased to announce being awarded the contract to work on the refurbishment of Eagle House in Bracknell city centre. When finished, Eagle House will contain 84 modern apartments, ranging from one to two bedrooms.

The project was awarded directly by Thomas Homes, a local developer and T&T’s work will consist of the design, supply and installation of all the windows and Alucobond rainscreen cladding and projection features.

Chris Brotherton, land and sales director at Thomas Homes says: “Eagle House is in a fabulous location, with The Lexicon literally on the door-step and a short walk to both the train and bus stations. The main structure for the building is already in place, work has commenced on finishing the roof and once complete, we will work on the sides of the building before creating its new interior”.

 T&T Facades is currently working on the design phase and is expected to commence on site at the end of March.
